I was one of first 500 people to join Entrecard, Graeme had big ideas and good plans for the future of EC from the start, Unfortunately he sold out and since then things have gone downhill in a major way, Im glad i left when i did. It sounds to me like Entrecard is no longer a bloggers community.

I do so agree that each blog or website needs to make money in order to survive. It can be harder for non-monetized sites.

At this time, I don't see anything wrong with the move of Entrecard. It's understandable if you are looking at it from the point of view of trying to make money to sustain and cross-subsidize the not-so profitable blogging community.

With Sandy's comment in mind, are there any decent alternatives out there to building traffic besides the basics like Entrecard once was? Or are we just stuck with whatever Entrecard throws at us?

No, this is NOT going to be a positive change. Firstly, they have a lousy track record of following through with promises made. When they took over the first thing they said was no paid ads, now we have paid ads, and we have no say so not to have them unless we pay them. We advertise for them free with each and every drop, with each and ec earned and spent.

They closed the forum because they don't want people to be able to speak freely, the closed comments on their blog for the same reason. In addition to that, they've kicked people out.

This is about one thing, and it's not what they think will be a plus for the bloggers. It is about money. Also remember they took away half of everyone's earning potential with ec's when they stopped allowing the points on the people who dropped on you. They also decreased further the ec's you could earn by no longer giving ec's for current blogs, thus people have less and less incentive to blog regularly. And that's why you see lots of ec at the bottom of the page, because people are feed up. Additional that's why you see blogs that drop less, blogs that don't bother to update.

There is no advantage to us bloggers and most delete comments from websites routinely as spam.
